Experimental Images for Dissertation

As mentioned in previous posts on this blog, I had been experimenting with the surface of bubbles. I decided to continue this in my dissertation where I had to submit an original body of work. I chose 6 images overall to submit. The 6 submitted are in the images below but I also have included some others that I was pleased with.

Another PDP Objective

I would like to add another objective to my PDP as I feel that this will be very important in the coming weeks whilst producing my Negotiated Major Project.
I intend to read more books and actively seek out more books that are relevant to my NMP as it would benefit my work greatly. I think that by reading more books, it will help work that I produce later down the line also.
I have been given a list of books by my tutor to read, so I will get started with those and try to find more relevant texts to accompany them with.

Film

One of the objectives for my PDP was to try take more photographs with my film cameras. John had recently informed us that he would be putting on sessions in the darkroom to teach us how to develop film. I went along and really enjoyed learning about it. It also pushed me to use my camera more as I had 36 photographs to use up within a week.
I successfully developed my own photographs for the first time and was really pleased with the outcome! Here are a few of the photographs:

Talk with Richard Meftah and Jenny Warburton

On Wednesday, we had a talk from a recent photography graduate and a lady who was the enterprise teaching project manager at our university about what to do when we leave university, with regards to setting up a business.
I found this talk really interesting and it made me think more about what I want to do with my career. I am considering doing a PGCE and hopefully managing to set up a business of my own somewhere along the line.
Richard made it all sound very easy, which I was surprised about. He told us about career development loans that you can get from banks to fund your education or business. As I would not be getting any help money-wise, this was important to know because I figured I would just have to work and save as much money as I could to further my career.

New Revised PDP

*Updated on 21st Feb*

I have created some new realistic goals that I would like to achieve by the end of the module or to have ongoing for as long as I see fit.
Here is my new PDP table

I chose to continue creating experimental images because I feel that it is a big part of my working process and what makes my work unique. I like to play with new lenses and filters to create different effects and to create trippy imagery on Photoshop.

I realised that I need to decide where my life is headed as I want to stay in Manchester after graduation. I need to make a proper career plan if I want to set up a business, have a studio or continue my education.

I love working with film and I have many film cameras that I should be using all of the time. They are in use frequently, but not as much as I would like them to be. I want to make a conscious effort to take more photographs using them.

I think that it would be beneficial to me to set up a like page on Facebook as it would get my work more exposure. I need to come up with a name for this as I think that using my own name is quite unoriginal and many people would have my initials so that would be very generic to use that. I already have a Tumblr that is used frequently but I feel that it would benefit from being on another social media platform. I may also want to consider making a Twitter account for my photography also.

I would like to read more photography books to help me along with my FMP. I think that reading more books would help me understand much more behind photography and may help me to understand my own work more also.
