We had two photographers called Layla Sailor and Anna White come into university and speak to us about their work and their jobs. They both produce very different styles of work, both of which I enjoyed looking at and found very interesting. I felt that it was a bit of a confidence boost for me as I have been worrying a bit about my career after university. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to both of their talks as I took a lot away from it.
Layla told us that she had had some work up on her website that had been there for a while and she was not getting any jobs but as soon as she took it down she started getting job offers. I think that this is something that I will need to bear in mind in the future when publicising my work on a website.
She also told us we should always have a plan b in case the client changes what they want and in case the props or lighting go wrong.
Anna explained to us about her work on projects within the community and how she was able to apply for funding to expand on her work. I really liked her work as it was quite personal and I loved the way that she had arranged the hoarder's belongings in her latest series.
